Behind in your lodgment obligations?
- Business News
The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has issued a reminder to businesses behind in their lodgments or payments – support is available.
The ATO has advised accountants to remind clients that help is available if they are not up to date with their lodgment or payment obligations.
“The following information may assist as you work with clients to assess their current position. It’s important for clients to bring all lodgments up to date and pay what they can,” the ATO reminded.
“If you cannot pay in full, there are payment options available. If your client owes $100,000 or less you can set up or adjust payment plans on their behalf via Online services for agents.”
Setting up a payment plan
If you are unable to go online to set up a payment plan, phone the automated service on 13 28 65 (Individuals) or 13 72 26 (Businesses).
For clients who owe over $100,000, the ATO said they will need to discuss their options by phoning the office on 13 11 42.
“It’s important that clients understand the consequences of not lodging or paying,” the ATO stated.
“With our lodge and pay engagement and enforcement actions recommencing, the best way to help your clients, is to help raise awareness of potential consequences of choosing not to engage with us.”
